We’ve been dangling off the fire escapes of Christopher Street to watch the Gay Pride Parade for, oh, 19 years! And the neighbors have been doing it for the full 40 years since the original gay riot. But for some reason this year, the NYPD has hung flyers up and down the block, ‘recommending’ we all not do this.

Okay, so it is kinda dangerous – I’ve seen beer bottles and such fall on the crowd, and I guess some drunk queen could slip and tumble off. But it’s more like the ‘Running Of The Bulls’ in Pamplona – stupid, dangerous, and a great tradition!

Either way, the NYPD should really proof read these things before putting them out. Really.

1. ALL CAPS!!!?

2. WEEKENDS should have an apostrophe

3. The second paragraph is a horribly mangled run on sentence.

4. Should say, ” IN THE PAST A LARGE NUMBER…”

5. The whole manages to avoid the words Gay, Lesbian, or LGBT.

Finally, isn’t this really a FDNY matter?

As an old punk rock/queer activist cum pornographer, I’ve always been attracted to anti-establishment imagery of standing up and fighting back. I was only 12 when Harvey Milk was murdered, but I’ll never forget how excited I was when I first saw footage of a row of burning police cars in San Francisco from the riots after his killer was convicted of manslaughter. Queers Rising Up! Gays actually rioting in the streets!

That has nothing to do with this video out of Iran, I just like how the cops ride there motorcycles into the protesters and end up having to run away, leaving one of their bikes burning in the street!

Also, at about 2:30 in to the clip, the injured cop the crowd helps out, is SMOKIN’ HOT!

I don’t know if I should even be sharing this information because it’s MY big fucking chance but Prince Harry will be making his first official overseas visit when he comes to New York this month. The 24-year-old hottie Harry will be “bringing with him a dash of old-world elegance” when he hops on a pony to compete in the second annual Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic, which takes place May 30 on Governor’s Island.

I wonder if people ever play polo without their shirts on? I fucking hope so! Harry and his torso also are going to visit Ground Zero and some charity in Harlem, but I’m all about the this polo business. I wonder what the traditional drink at a polo match is. I’ll take two, please!

Scouts Train to Fight Terrorists, and More

Now, I find young men dressing up as soldiers and playing with guns as hot as the next guy, but you have to file this in the “this can’t be good” category. The NYTimes reports that boy scouts are training to fight “terrorists and more.” The more, in this case, are illegal immigrants. Because, poor, non-english speaking Mexicans cowering in the trunk of a Chevy are just as dangerous as 9/11 terrorists (who fly first class). Not surprisingly, the scouts in question live in California, near the Mexican border.

Strangely, the fictional ‘terrorist’ in the exercise is “a disgruntled Iraq war veteran” and the teenagers identify themselves as “United States Border Patrol.” So at least they acknowledge: 1) the real terrorist threats are US citizens that our own government has fucked up; and 2) Mexican Immigration is considered ‘terrorism.’
