I kinda feel wrong even giving exposure to these clowns, but it’s too fucking amusing to pass up so here goes:

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church — infamous for spewing hateful vitriol at churches and military funerals with charming signs like “God Hates Fags” and “Thank God For 9/11″ — will be in Brooklyn this week to ruffle some feathers at the Sabbath services at Congregation Beth Elohim. Why a Jewish temple? Because Jews tolerate faggots and killed Jesus, of course!

Westboro Baptist Church is the work anti-homosexual mastermind propagandist Fred Phelps of Topeka, Kansas. As the WBC site (on the web at GodHatesFags.com) explains:

“In 1991, WBC took to the streets, conducting 41,226 peaceful demonstrations (to date) opposing the fag lifestyle of soul-damning, nation-destroying filth . . . America crossed the line on June 26, 2003, when the Supreme Court (the conscience of the nation) ruled in Lawrence v. Texas that we must respect sodomy. WBC believes her gospel message to be this world’s last hope.”

Pretty powerful stuff. The WBC also plans to picket a handful of other synagogues and Brooklyn Technical HS in Fort Greene, where apparently the youngsters are, like, totally not down with Jesus: “Yo what’s up, God haters?” reads an announcement for the protest. “Why you teach ‘It’s OK to be gay?’ WBC will be on hand to teach the rebels of Brooklyn what good looks like, and you had better behave.”
